Haha – I’ve been SO BEHIND IN THIS BLOG I knew this would happen >___> if you bear with me, I’m going to catch up everything in brief, probably not-as-good summary. Sorry about that. ;;

Napanee – it’s still awesome!

December 27, 2009

Haha, so we’re leaving Napanee tomorrow. ): V. sad about that because I’ve been enjoying myself here! Hanging out with uncle Reg and auntie Penny and playing Yukar has been so much fun. I am going to teach you guys that card game when we get back – it is so confusing. Ohmygod.

Riley and Zack went home today, so there are no babies to play with. Awww. I kind of miss them, but I do not miss the noise ahaha. Or Elmo’s World, don’t miss that either.

And TV is also awesome, just thought I’d mention that. Arthur and The Magic School Bus are my favourites, because clearly I am still a child. But they have Glee, and Corner Gas (Yay!) and Friends and a whole lot of awesome shows that I remember watching when I was a kid. I miss Canadian TV… plus, watching hockey games is FUN.

Today we went out onto the ice, which was covered in snow! Me and Jemma made snow angels, and then we dragged a mini zamboni out onto the ice and cleared a large patch of snow, set up two goals, got some sticks and a puck and played ice hockey! It was so fun! I was wearing this awesome orange one piece that made me look like a really fat kid and so whenever I fell over (which was A LOT) it took me a while to get back on my feet again haha. Every time I took a shot on goal, the force of swinging the hockey stick made my feet shoot out from underneath me and then I fell over again. Probably because my base of stability – noooooooo, p.e is getting to me!!

I think I cracked my head one too many times, cause it hurts. ):

JEMMA HAS STOPPED KICKING ME IN BED. It’s awesome. I have to share a bed with her and she’s finally stopped kicking me all night! I can actually sleep now! And she’s stopped snoring too, which is awesome.

Oh oh – also, yesterday we went to a barn and we saw puppies! This lady who let us in to see them, I don’t know how she gets things done! She had three litters of puppies in her house. Like, 21 puppies. In her house. And they fit in -

Dude, I just lost my entire post and here it is again. SWEET. … Anyway.

They fit in the palms of my hands! They were so adorable. All fluffy and then just went to sleep on my lap, they were all sleepy and stuff. I had about three on me, all snoozing. And one was trying to suck on my thumb! It had no teeth, so it felt really funny.

And then we got on the road again, because… well, we like being on the road.

Napanee!

Merry Christmas!

Our house is SO FULL; there are little kids and dogs everywhere. Wow.  The families who are stay here include me and Jemma and Mum and Dad, Angie, Gerald, Shane, Zack and Riley, Auntie Penny and Uncle Reg, Grandma Hollis and Ross and Duchess (the two dogs).

Today I was woken up at twenty to seven, because the kids were up and wanted to get opening their presents. I got a jacket that says CANADA and some mittens, but that was about it. Mum and Dad were like ‘You’re in Canada. What more do you want? >__> ‘ so we didn’t really get any presents… ;;

I went back to bed after the present opening was finished, but not before playing a game with Owen, who was another little kid who came with Andy and Danielle, Lisa and her Dad. There are so many people in this house, you would not believe. And we’re all very sick of Sesame St. which has been playing non-stop since the morning haha…

I had a nice nap though, and then a warm shower, which was HEAVEN. Then we decided to go for a walk, which was pretty nice, even though it was cold. And we finished by venturing onto the frozen lake – which is HUGE. It’s so big! We went out really far and slipped and slid all over the place. It’s SO FUN! And the ice was amazingly thick, about seven inches Uncle Reg said.

We played on the ice (or in my case fell over - I think I have about ten bruises LOL)  and then we went back inside to get our gear on so we could go ice fishing! Ice fishing is pretty fun, but you get SO COLD really fast, cause you just have to sit there and sort of wait.

No fish were caught. (:

But it’s okay because now we’re going to Christmas dinner! Yummmmmmmy!! I’m excited about that, because I haven’t had anything to eat since breakfast and I’m hungry. Auntie Penny keeps saying that me and Jemma are going to disappear if we turn sideways.

Merry Christmas!

And there is more shopping. Kind of.

December 24, 2009

Today we went to Humberton. I think it’s called that. It’s about the size of Johnsonville Mall.

We decided to walk there, which I thought was a FUN IDEA and it really ended up being NOT A VERY FUN IDEA because stamping on the ice with my boots got old after and while and it was freezing. It’s not so bad when the wind is still, but it was blowing lots right in my face.

My ears and cheeks were so cold. I really need to invest in a stupid looking hat.

We got to the mall and there was a hairdresser and I was like LOL I WANNA GET MY HAIR CUT so Mum shoved me in there and was all GO AHEAD. … So I got my hair cut. This really nice guy called Alex did it for me. I got all the usual questions (“Oh, are you from Australia?”), and I got some weird ones too. He seemed to be into Lady Gaga a lot, so he wanted to know if NZ thought she was fantastic, and if she had toured there. I thought Holy Madonna, he’s going to make me look like Lady Gaga isn’t he?? but he did a very good job. I have a fringe that I can see out of now!

I also went to Baskin Robbins which is freaking epic. I had rainbow sherbet and chocolate. There was also a flavour called ‘Baseball Nut’ which made me laugh so hard I had to double over and my sister did not seem to understand why I HAD TO TAKE A PICTURE OF IT. There was also one called ‘Maui Chocolate’ or something like that – anyway, it had the word ‘Maui’ in it. I wonder if they knew what that even means. Maybe not.

ANYWAY – we also decorated our Christmas tree today. Auntie is a total spaz about her tree being perfect too. She let me decorate but I bet she’s going to sneak back down to the tree this evening and rearrange all of the baubles I put on the tree HA HA HA. I also got to play on their GRAND PIANO /dies It’s so BEAUTIFUL and pretty and it makes a really nice sound!

Tomorrow we’re going to Napanee, where there is also not as much snow as I would have liked. And it’s going to be raining on Christmas day!

… I’ll feel right at home then, huh? (:

Shopping

December 23, 2009

So today we went shopping! Yay! We went to the biggest mall in Toronto (at least I think it was the biggest? There probably could have been a bigger one, knowing Canada…). We drove there this time, which was nice, cause we got to go past Casa Loma, which is actually a huge castle right smack in the middle of Toronto. Toronto doesn’t really seem like a castle place, does it?

This shopping mall was huge. And I mean huge. One store had eight levels and we got totally lost in it! There was this awesome water fountain there and a big Christmas tree of course – the decorations were just amazing. And the shops! I’ve become a huge fan of Abercrombie and Fitch overnight; I went and bought a lovely jumper from them (so expensive but I love it so muchhh) and I definately want to get a scarf from there too, and jeans. Maybe Mum will let me? Dad was like WHY ARE YOU WANTING EXPENSIVE THINGS????

Haha. ;; I had bubble tea too! It’s DEFINATELY not as good as it is here. They charge you heaps extra for tapioca bubbles and even then they don’t crush the ice and it’s just not as good. The shop was called BUBBLE TEAse. Get it? Haha. They’re so funny!

We had burgers and fries from A&W too. I love that place, they have root beer and it is excellent! We took the subway home after that, and I really like the trains! They talk to you and tell you what stop is coming up next! All trains should do that.

Toronto also has this TOTALLY neat system. You pay one fare (like, for a bus or a train) and then you’ve paid. As in, if you need to go from a bus to a train, you pay for the bus ride, and get the train ride for free. All transit rides are paid for in your first fare. Isn’t that awesome?? Like, if you needed to catch a train, then a bus, then another bus to get somewhere, you just pay for the train. WE SHOULD DO THAT TOO. I LIKE THIS IDEA.

We had chicken for dinner tonight and it was so delicious. Then me and Jemma stayed up, determinded to finish all the riddles in my Professor Layton game. We didn’t, but we still have tomorrow right?

I wonder if it’s still snowing. Let me go and check… I don’t think it is. Sad face. It was so cold today though huh, it was like minus seven. Yikes. Anyway, it’s time for me to get to bed! Dunno what we’re doing tomorrow, we might be going back to Casa Loma.

Katie. (:

Actually getting here…

December 21, 2009

SO – I’m in Canada! Right now! Wow!

It took such a long time getting here. I left the house at 4pm on the Sunday, and it took one hour to get to Auckland, and then fourteen hours to get to Vancouver! I’m not really a fan of long flights, but there were a lot of movies to watch. I watched Harry Potter six, and I watched a lot of Top Gear (season 13, so a whole lot of new stuff!) and I watched Meet the Robinsons as well, I love that movie. I actually managed to sleep on this flight, and for a long time as well! It’s so hard to sleep on a plane, really.

After that, we chilled out in Vancouver airport (which is so PRETTY! It’s just really nice, there are waterfalls and stuff everywhere, it is so cool), and then boarded another flight to Toronto, which was five hours long. This was was just as good, though for the first hour there was this screaming baby right behind me that totally drove me crazy for ages. I watched UP! and I listened to U2 and Newton Faulker on the music selection and played Professor Layton. Didn’t sleep this flight, but that was OK.

Arrived in Toronto at 10pm on Sunday! It was so weird – we had actually MADE time getting to Canada! It’s so weird to think that it’s Monday evening over there. Here it’s 2-33am and it’s… well, Monday now too, I guess. But you’re so far ahead of us – totally in the future! It’s weird to think about, you know?

It’s so cold here! I got off the plane wearing a t-shirt and shorts and it just about near killed me. Minus one degrees - and that wind is just ICY. My Auntie Laurance got me mittens (THANK GOODNESS) so my hands managed to stay nice and warm during the car ride home.

And now I’m lying on the couch with a laptop and typing this! Wonder if people are actually going to read it? It was my idea to start a blog to just keep track of all the things that I’m doing while I’m here (two months is such a long time mannnn), but I guess if people want to read it, then they can!

I should get to bed… so goodnight all!
